Cisco: Advancing Saudi Banking, البنك العربي

anb-logoArab National Bank (ANB – Based in Saudi Arabia as one of the top ten banks in the Middle-East), has announced a deal with Cisco to upgrade it’s communications infrastructure. The main enhancement will upgrade the current ANB system to allow faster access to central information from all branches in the network, which will make Arab National Bank one of the top providers of customer service in the region.

OnLive: The Future Of Video Games

OnLive is a service that uses the internet to deliver the latest advanced video games (PC, Playstation, xbox) to a television without the need of powerful consoles or discs. The service supplies the user with controllers (which are very similar to Microsoft’s controller design), creating a “Games On Demand” experience.

Regulation: UAE Telecom Authority Restricts Web Access

Partnering with Dubai Police, UAE’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has announced that certain websites will be blocked from domestic access. A list of 500 keywords was noted, and any site containing any of the keywords will be blocked (although these words are not known, and have not been released to the public).

Siemens: Students Build The Sunchaser

Siemens partnered with the American University of Sharjah (AUS) to give a team of students the opportunity to build a solar powered car (which is now successfully built). The Sunchaser, powered by 740 cells, can move at speeds of up to 70 km per hour. A GPS is installed for remote monitoring and control of the car, while it can be stopped using the hydraulic braking system.
